Here's a recent submit from Molly, who I can only presume is the cool person on the right, wearing the Snuggie.

The screen on the laptop isn't too clear, so I'm not sure if they are ordering Zubas online or not. Not that I ever rewrite captions or embellish stories here, but I think either they are:
A. Having a cozy competition, seeing which is warmer - the Snuggie or the heat emanating from that laptop, or...
B. Auditioning for the TV Show 'Hoarders' - You know, the show that airs after 'Intervention' showcasing the plight of those that can't throw anything away. I decided not to crop the picture because there's so much going on here..the box, the pink thing to one side and a few other mysterious objects.
Since I elected not to crop, I had to shrink the picture down - rendering the captions by the arrows very small. For those with suspect eyesight, the one on the left reads 'Poltergeist for this generation' while the quote on the right reads '43% of all Snuggie Sightings are alcohol related'.
[Photo not recovered: The most common Tweet related to Snuggie is - Is it just me, or does the Snuggie look like some kind of Cult Robe? .... It is just you.]The most common Tweet related to Snuggie is - \'Is it just me, or does the Snuggie look like some kind of Cult Robe?\' .... It is just you. This is simply an unfortunate accident with Super Glue. No cult-like behavior here. Move along.
I wonder how well the Snuggie sells in Waco? I think cult leaders would do well to wear the Snuggie - you look harmless in the Snug, which may keep those pesky ATF tanks at bay while you also lower your heating bills.
I think it would be visually funny for there to be a marathon or perhaps a 5k race, where all participants wear Snuggies. Until the world gets hip enough for that, we'll have to settle for the random Snuggie Sighting in the crowd, such as this potential Snuggie Sighting
[Photo not recovered: If this is a Snuggie, the wearer is sporting it backwards and they have it cinched up. A Snuggie, when left to its own devices, will hang down on the ground, making it all the better to run a marathon in.]If this is a Snuggie, the wearer is sporting it backwards and they have it cinched up. A Snuggie, when left to its own devices, will hang down on the ground, making it all the better to run a marathon in.
Here's a note from KC, who submitted this pic:
'My first public Snuggie Sighting happened today at the Towpath Marathon in Peninsula Ohio. This spectator had it on backwards and all pulled up. Couldn't believe my eyes. I whipped out my camera as quick as I could to take a pic. She stayed nice in warm in her Snuggie as it was in the 40's today.'
The upcoming Philadelphia Snuggie Pub Crawl organizers show some mad Photoshop skillz, causing me to (as the kids say...) LOL when I saw their improvement on their famous Rockie Balboa statue (how awesome is it that Philly has a statue of Sylvester Stallone - I think some city in Texas should erect a Rambo statue. Dallas. I'm talking to you.)
You may have heard the announcement today of President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. On a much larger scale and of more historical significance is that Snuggie has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Fleece Prize for their efforts in freeing millions of people from the evil clutches of the blanket.
Earlier this year, every weekend saw multiple Snuggie Pub Crawls in various cities across the United States (go to my SnuggiePubCrawls.com website for the running list of dates and locations).
As the weather warmed, the crawls cooled, with the months of July and September being the only months on record this year without a Snuggie Pub Crawl. Now that we are in October, let the Snuggie Pub Crawls commence in what we'll call the 2009-10 season.
This second season of crawls will feature all the new Snuggie colors and styles, college snuggies, etc. and perhaps some revelers will bring along their canine's decked out in their own Snuggie for Dogs. What started with 6 guys in Cincinnati on January 30, 2009 has grown into a cultural phenomenon.
In addition to these dates listed below, there are dozens more in the formative stages. Here are a few that are taking shape right now, with dates set, many with event websites, Twitter identities, and Facebook Event pages.
Salt Lake City, Utah (Oct. 23 - Pink Ribbon Snuggie Pub Crawl for Breast Cancer Charities) - Other cities may join together on this date for Breast Cancer Awareness. I will write more on this later as well as the Pink Ribbon Snuggie for Charity.
I've also been contact by New Brunswick, NJ, Atlanta, New Orleans, and will be posting more details on those locations and dates as soon as I get them.
This should not be confused with the Double Snuggie (which is when one person wears two Snuggies - you can read my Double Snuggie PSA here). We'll call this 'Two Girls, One Snuggie'
Deb sent in this great picture of her parents relaxing in their Snuggies. I love the resurgence of the Complimentary Booklights. His booklight is trained on a AAA brochure while hers is beaming onto the worried looking dog (worried because he doesn't have a Snuggie of his own, surely).
Deb writes: My 80yo dad recently had major back surgery and found that his new Snuggie is quite comfortable as he recuperates! He loves his so much that I bought one for my 81yo mom, so she could be comfy, too!
Whether you love or hate the Snuggie, one truth remains - the Blanket with Sleeves has been (and will continue to be) a monster hit. Marketers of all stripes are experiencing a severe case of Snuggie-envy, asking 'Why? Why is the Snuggie so successful?'
Perhaps twenty years from now, when I'm an old man, wrapped in my Snuggie, some major media outlet (like VH1) will come calling, asking for my perspective as to why the Snuggie became so popular. Until that day comes, we can gain some insights from this article - Blanket Coverage - a study conducted by Nielsen Research and Proctor and Gamble.
The quote that caught my eye was this:
"Sure, the commercial campaign would have continued, but we would have encouraged more events like the pub crawls, celebrity sightings and video parodies to reinforce the magic mix of quirky, cool and functional, the secret to Snuggie’s success."
An affirming quote like that brings a smile to my face (although I think the non-celebrity sightings are more fun). And speaking of Snuggie Pub Crawls, I'll just say that this Fall and Winter are going to be crazy as the 2009-10 season begins. Stay tuned. [Image no longer online]
